Pretty Famous blurb:

A dark secret from Hollywood's Golden Age. A possible prince-in-hiding. Astonvale's about to implode...

Professional organiser Celeste Pretty swore she'd never work with uber-blonde interior designer Imogen Karmel again, but then she's presented with a project she can't refuse. The prestigious Astonvale College is celebrating its centenary and needs the pair to ensure the festivities go off without a hitch.

As Celeste sets to work in a flurry of activity - in between organising her own engagement party - she finds herself blowing away the cobwebs on a sixty-year-old secret.

Meanwhile, Imogen becomes enamoured with a substitute teacher, Hudson Addison, who may or may not be a royal in hiding. And there's nothing Imogen dreams of more than becoming a princess.

Will all be revealed on party night?

Carla Caruso says:

“I don’t know why but I’ve always had a fascination with professional organisers – those people who declutter clients’ homes and offices for a living.

So right when I was meant to be starting another story, I read a newspaper article on my favourite topic (professional organisers, ha!) and this idea took form in my mind of a series involving a neat-freak professional organiser (the result of a hoarder dad) who gets caught up in messy mysteries with a sexy builder. I’ve always loved amateur sleuth shows like Mr & Mrs Murder (crime scene cleaners turned sleuths), so I just couldn’t shake the idea and all these crazy ‘side’ characters wandered into my head, too.

I set the series in a fictional, well-heeled suburb of Adelaide – ‘Astonvale’ – known for its mansions with infinity-edge pools and Wimbledon-worthy tennis courts. I’d call the ‘Astonvale’ series romance with a side helping of cosy mystery. It kicks off with A Pretty Mess and the latest installment, Book 3, is Pretty Famous, involving a dark secret from Hollywood’s Golden Age and a possible prince-in-hiding.”

RED DUST DREAMING BY EVA SCOTT

RELEASE DATE: 8TH APRIL 2015

Finding Inspiration:

My mother took me to an Aboriginal art exhibition at the Queensland Art gallery, where she happened to know the exhibition’s curator. I was captivated by the artwork and the stories behind it. The Warlukurlangu Artists of Yuendumu produce the most amazing work!

I had a friend who had given up her art degree for a “sensible” degree in IT at her father’s behest. He’d agreed to pay her tuition but only if she did a degree he approved of. So she gave up her dream and took up a job she cares little for. I wondered what would happen if she met the Warlukurlangu Artists and rediscovered her passion. Then I got to thinking what might bring a person all the way out to the red heart of Australia… and the rest is history, as they say.

In the battle of duty versus desire, only one can survive the hot Australian sunshine.

Blurb:

Elizabeth Langtree’s has her life in order – safe, organised, planned. Sure, she has her troubles, but they are nothing she can’t handle. Then everything is turned upside down when her family send her to Australia to collect her orphaned nephew.

It all seemed so simple in New York, but Australia is nothing like she expected, and she soon falls under the spell of the Outback – the station, the lifestyle, and the seriously sexy owner who has been caring for Luke since the death of his mother.

Elizabeth soon discovers that what seemed simple a world away is anything but, and her duty is at odds with the dictates of her heart. She must choose, knowing that a mistake will not only cost her everything, but destroy the future of a devastated little boy.

Excerpt:

Caden started the engine without a word and they drove off down a dirt track in silence. Unused to travelling in rough terrain Elizabeth’s spine jangled alarmingly at every bump. No such thing as a chiropractor out here. “Is it far to a sealed road?” she finally ventured, not sure she could take much more.

He shot her a quick look, something like incredulity flashed across his face. “This is the Outback Miss Langtree. There are no sealed roads here. The Tanami Track which is the closest thing to a highway around here is entirely comprised of dirt.”

“Oh!” A blush stole over her cheeks and she desperately hoped he didn’t notice. “I had no idea.”

“Why would you? I’m sure the Tanami Desert doesn’t come up in conversation much in the Big Smoke.” He drove with his eyes straight ahead, his capable hands gripping the wheel.

She took a moment to study him. He looked so much a part of the landscape, at ease, while she had never been more out of her depth in her life. Her next question fought to leave her lips, only the fear of looking stupid in his eyes prevented her from unleashing it. They hit a pothole and the car bucked in protest. Elizabeth banged her head on the window; a flash of pain ignited a flame of annoyance. She was a New York corporate lawyer for chrissakes! Why should a farmer from Podunk-nowhere intimidate her?

“What the hell is the Big Smoke?” She snapped out the question while she rubbed the bump on her head.

“Big city,” he said simply, inviting no further conversation.

She let the silence stretch a beat or two while she simmered her annoyance up to a boiling anger. “Where’s Luke? I thought he’d be here to meet me.” He didn’t answer her immediately and she had to bite her tongue to prevent prodding him for a reply.

“He’s got school in the mornings. You’ll meet him soon enough.” Caden’s voice held a note of steel difficult to miss.

“School? Out here?” She gestured to the open plain filled with grasses and low scruffy trees.

“School of the Air.”

She waited for him to say more but when nothing further was forthcoming she said, “Enlighten me,” her tone icy. He looked at her then, properly, taking his eyes off the road and giving her a good long stare. She held his gaze self-conscious of the heat slowly travelling up her body as she looked into those toffee coloured eyes. He turned away, focusing on the road.

“School conducted by internet for kids who live on remote properties. They do their lessons with teachers located in Alice Springs and it’s a chance to get to know each other a little bit. Before internet they did their lessons over the radio hence the name School of the Air.”

“Okay.” Elizabeth nodded, satisfied. Somehow she felt as if she’d scored a point. She returned to looking out the window at the passing countryside. This was nothing like the tourism pictures of Australia she’d seen online. Had Angela truly been happy in this place? Red dirt roads, School of the Air and sticky red dust – what else could possibly lie in wait for her in this strange country?
